With Alice In Chains taking the year off following the conclusion of their “Rainier Fog” tour, Jerry Cantrell has some time on his hands.

So the guitarist is picking back up his solo project, confirming in a recent interview with Gibson that his first full-length release since 2002’s Degradation Trip is on the way.

Perhaps he’ll call up some friends for this new record. On Degradation Trip, Cantrell enlisted Metallica’s Robert Trujillo on bass and Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin.

Cantrell also reveals that there are some “exciting” things in the works, hinting, “I don’t wanna say just yet what’s happening, but I can tell you that there’s gonna be some cool s**t happening this year.”

Which solo-projects have you followed? How do they compare to the main bands?
