September 9th marks the six-year anniversary of one of strangest moments in U2’s career – when they made everyone mad by giving away their album for free.

You might remember this – in 2014, U2 appeared at an Apple product launch event to announce that their new album, Songs of Innocence, was not only out – it had already been downloaded into Apple users’ iTunes libraries.

Surprisingly, U2 ended up facing a major backlash for the stunt – turns out a lot of people didn’t like Apple messing with their iTunes accounts, free album or not.

Do you remember U2’s Songs of Innocence stunt? Why did it backfire?
