Kentucky Pushes Back Primary Until June

Kentucky has postponed the May 19th primary by more than a month.

Making the announcement late Monday, Secretary of State Michael Adams said he and Governor Andy Beshear agreed to postpone the primary election day until June 23rd to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Kentucky joins Louisiana and Georgia, which have also pushed back their respective primaries for the same reason.

“Postponing the primary was not an easy decision,” Adams says. “But the Republican secretary of state and Democratic governor agreed, and so do county clerks of both parties, and they are our front-line election administrators.”

Is the coronavirus pandemic going to screw up the election? Why don’t officials just make the primaries and the election mail-in only?
