Singer Jerry Lee Lewis has passed away at the age of 87. He was was pioneer in the music world, known for hits like “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” in 1957 and “Great Balls of Fire”. A controversial figure from the beginning, he married his 13-year-old cousin when he was 22-years-old.

He received a lifetime achievement award at the 47th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 13, 2005. He was induced into the Country Music Hall of Fame earlier this month but did not attend on the advice of his doctors.
