DNA Researcher Finds Ozzy Osbourne is a ‘Genetic Mutant’

Ozzy Osbourne has survived a 40-year regimen of hard drugs and copious amounts of alcohol because he’s a “genetic mutant.”

That’s the word from a top DNA researcher, who published his finding in a new book called, “Pleased to Meet Me: Genes, Germs and the Curious Forces that Make Us Who We Are.” Author Bill Sullivan, a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, says people are shaped by their DNA, with some being more resistant to damaging factors than others. However, even under the most advantageous DNA circumstances, Osbourne’s ability to survive what basically amounts to a 40-year binge defies science. So researchers obtained a blood sample from the rocker and mapped out his DNA.

It turns out Osbourne possesses a never-before-seen mutation that allows him to consume large quantities of drugs and alcohol with less damage to his organs than most people would suffer, Sullivan says. Scientists also found several “genetic variations” that make him predisposed to addiction, Sullivan adds. The conclusion: “Ozzy is indeed a genetic mutant,” Sullivan says.
