Spotify is removing Neil Young’s music from the platform, as the artist requested.

The musician said Monday he wouldn’t share the site with podcaster Joe Rogan, who has been criticized for spreading vaccine misinformation.

In an open letter to his manager on his website that was later removed, Young said, “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

A Spotify spokesperson said the company agreed to remove Young’s work but regrets Young’s decision and hopes “to welcome him back soon.”

The spokesperson explained, “We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users.  With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20-thousand podcast episodes related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.”
