While we’re learning more about the impact our jobs have on our health, it turns out there’s a huge toll it takes on the environment too.

And while you’ll likely have trouble convincing your boss that you should work less to save the planet, researchers have found that it’s true.

In a new study by Autonomy, a one-percent reduction of office work, which includes commutes and electrical usage, would significantly help lower our carbon footprint.

The findings show an ideal work week would actually be about 10 hours per person, strictly from an ecological viewpoint.
