Which Tom Petty Song Did Tom Petty Hate The Most?

35 years ago today, Tom Petty released a single that he hated.
The song was “Make It Better (Forget About Me)”, from Petty’s 1985 album Southern Accents – a song co-written with the Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart.
But in the just-released book Conversations With Tom Petty, the late rocker admitted “I hate that song, it’s just trash” and says “there were better songs that should have been on the album”.
“Make It Better (Forget About Me)” ended up being one of Petty’s least successful singles, peaking at #54 on the charts.
