Bruno the Brake car has officially joined “Thomas & Friends.” He will be the TV show’s first autistic character.

The franchise describes Bruno as a “joyful, pun-making brake car” that will play a “vital role” in the show.

They state, “Detail-oriented Bruno enjoys schedules, routine, and knows where all the tracks lead on Sodor.”

According to CBS News, Bruno has a lantern on his exterior that indicates his emotional state. It also moves when he is excited or cautious.

The director of advocacy for the Autistic Self Advocacy Network says autistic people were involved in all aspects of creating Bruno.
