The “Rhythm Nation” music video by Janet Jackson has been listed as a cybersecurity vulnerability.

This is because it has the potential to crash specific hard drive models created in 2005.

Raymond Chen, a notable developer, says a “major computer manufacturer” discovered “playing the music video for Janet Jackson’s ‘Rhythm Nation’ would crash certain models of laptops.”

The manufacturer discovered while looking into the issue that “Rhythm Nation” also caused laptops belonging to their rivals to crash. The strange thing is that, even without a bug or virus, playing “Rhythm Nation” close to a laptop could cause it to crash.

It turns out that a specific type of 4500 RPM hard drive has a natural resonance frequency that can be found in “Rhythm Nation.”

Have you experienced a computer crashing due to Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation?”
