The star-studded Metallica Blacklist tribute album has outsold the album that inspired it.

The 53-song collection – which features artists like Elton John, Miley Cyrus, and Weezer covering songs from Metallica’s Black Album – landed at No. 7 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart.

That’s higher than Metallica’s Black Album 30th Anniversary reissue, which landed at No. 10.

The Top Album Sales chart ranks records by only traditional album sales, not by equivalent units used on other Billboard charts.

Are you surprised the Blacklist tribute is outselling the actual Black Album?
