It was a resounding “nope” that the lawyers for Soundgarden gave to Universal Music Group when asked to drop their lawsuit for UMG’s vault fire that destroyed Soundgarden’s masters in 2008.

UMG’s lawyers stated August 26th that the damage to Soundgarden’s master catalog was “minimal.” The lawyers asked Soundgarden to drop the suit within 24 hours.

Lawyers for the band said until UMG coughs up details on how much they received from damage claims they can not accept their belated claim that no damage was actually suffered.

Do you think that artists like Soundgarden and the estates of Tom Petty should continue their lawsuit? Do you think UMG is hiding something?
