Smash Mouth Singer Says He’s Retiring After Disastrous Show

Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell says he’s leaving the band and retiring due to health issues.

Harwell made his announcement to TMZ, citing both physical and mental health issues.  He had taken a multi-week hiatus from the band earlier this year due to a heart condition.

Harwell thanked his fans and bandmates, writing “Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of being a Rockstar performing in front of sold-out arenas and have been so fortunate to live out that dream.

The news comes just a few days after a disastrous weekend show in upstate New York, where a seemingly intoxicated Harwell slurred his words, cursed out the crowd, and at one point gave what appeared to be a Nazi salute.

Was Harwell’s decision to retire ‘sped up’ by the video of his on-stage meltdown?  What’s the worst thing you’ve ever seen happen on stage during a concert?
