Slash ‘Hated’ The 80’s L.A. Music Scene

Guns N’ Roses rose to fame out of the legendary ‘Sunset Strip’ music scene of the 80’s – a scene that Slash “f***ing hated“, apparently.

In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, Slash admits he “hated the whole scene” – because he felt other bands were “converting to the industry standard to get a record deal and get girls”.

He says GN’R was “the antithesis of all that, and it’s something I’m really proud of”.

Was GN’R really all that different from the other bands of the 80’s L.A. scene, or is Slash giving himself too much credit here?  What U.S. cities have the best musical heritage?
