Sammy Hagar: ‘I’d Rather Die’ than Live Under New COVID-19 Restrictions

Although several states are experiencing coronavirus resurgences after reopening, a number of U.S. citizens have voiced their opposition to seeing new restrictions orders. Among them is Sammy Hagar.

The Red Rocker says he’d “rather personally get sick and even die” than abide by a stay-at-home order again. “I’ll be comfortable playing a show before there’s a vaccine, if it’s declining and seems to be going away,” Hagar says. “I’m going to make a radical statement here. This is hard to say without stirring somebody up, but truthfully, I’d rather personally get sick and even die if that’s what it takes.”

While Hagar acknowledges his comments might be seen as irresponsible, he says he believes shutting down the country again will lead to a economic crisis that would be far worse than the coronavirus pandemic. “We have to save the world and this country from this economic thing that’s going to kill more people in the long run,” he says. “I would rather see everyone go back to work. If some of us have to sacrifice on that, OK.”

Do you agree with Hagar? Is there a way we can strike a balance between the two negative outcomes?
