Paul Simon is 81 and still making music…just releasing his 15th studio album, Seven Psalms, but his days on the road may be over.  He’s suffered some hearing loss in his left ear that happened while he was writing the new album. “Quite suddenly, I lost most of the hearing in my left ear, and nobody has an explanation for it,” he said. “So everything became more difficult.”

He was more frustrated and annoyed than angered because he thought it would be temporary and that “it would repair itself.” But it hasn’t and now he may not perform live again.  The silver lining is then he wouldn’t have to sing the old songs anymore. “The songs of mine that I don’t want to sing live, I don’t sing them,” he said. “Quite often that would come during ‘You Can Call Me Al.’ I’d think, ‘What are you doing? You’re like a Paul Simon cover band.”
