Ozzy Blames Reality Show For Driving Him To Drugs, Alcohol

Never mind that he spent a good portion of his life surrounded by drugs and alcohol; Ozzy Osbourne says it was his hit reality show that pushed him into problems with addiction.

“When you’ve got a camera crew living in your house 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it gets a bit crazy,” Osbourne says of the MTV show, which premiered in 2002. “When the filming ended, I’d go in my little bunker and smoke a pipe and drink about a case of beer every day.”

When Osbourne realized the pressures of being TV personalities were also turning his children to drugs and alcohol, he decided to call it quits. “The kids were doing drugs and alcohol and I’d gone back on the booze,” he says. “By the time year three came along, Sharon sat us all down and said, ‘Do you want to carry on?’ Everybody just said no.”

Would doing a TV show at home be more stressful than touring?
