Old Misfits Record Sells for $10,000

In news that’s bound to prompt thousands of music fans to rifle through their old record collections, a rare seven-inch record by The Misfits has sold for more than $10,000.

The vinyl disk — which features the song “Cough/Cool,” backed with “She” as the B-side – was released as a limited edition in 1977. Only 500 copies of the record, which features the only recorded Misfits appearance by drummer Manny Martinez, were pressed, according to Discogs, the company that sold the high-priced collector’s item.

Adding to the record’s value is the fact that the name of bassist Jerry Caiafa – who was later known as “Jerry Only” – is misspelled on the sleeve, Discogs reveals.

What’s the oldest record you own? Have you ever sold an old item for a huge profit?
