Twenty-six years after it was released, Nirvana’s “MTV Unplugged in New York” is still selling well.

The live acoustic album has been certified eight times multi-platinum, the RIAA has revealed. That means the critically-acclaimed set has sold more than 8 million copies since its release.

The RIAA has also done some backpedaling on the video version of the album. On Monday, the agency certified it gold, platinum and seven times platinum.

Would Nirvana be just as successful in today’s music scene? In which of today’s bands do you hear Nirvana’s influence?
