NBA Hires Security to Make Sure Players don’t Hug or Shake Hands

Apparently, the NBA was serious when it banned on-court hugs and handshakes.

A league memo obtained Wednesday by ESPN reveals a “security team” will be placed mid-court at future games in an effort to get players to comply with the coronavirus safety rules.

In addition to the ban on hugs and handshakes, the NBA has also banned extended conversations, high fives and fist bumps. Touching elbows, however, is permitted, per the league.

Considering basketball players are all over each other, are these rules pointless?
