More coming out about the tragedy on set of the Alec Baldwin movie. The gun handed to Alec on the set of Rust was declared safe by the assistant director, according to an affidavit filed by the Santa Fe County’s Sheriff’s Office.

The AD shouted “cold gun” on set, meaning the prop was safe to use and did not contain live ammo. However, when Baldwin pulled the trigger, it fired a projectile that fatally struck cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in the chest and hit director Joel Souza’s shoulder.

No charges have been filed in the incident, which took place Thursday night.

Reports say gun safety inspections were not being strictly followed on set. There was even another accidental discharge and the crew walked out days before over unsafe working conditions.

Per the search warrant, the assistant director did not know the prop gun was loaded with live rounds. It also notes that the weapon that was fired and Baldwin’s wardrobe, which was blood-stained, were taken as evidence.

In a statement Friday, Baldwin said: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.”

Other shows are taking this as a lesson as well and banning live weapons on their sets. The Boys and The Rookie are two shows that will only use Airsoft guns.
