Michael Jackson and Sting Almost Starred in Labyrinth Instead of David Bowie

David Bowie is pretty familiar to audiences as Jareth in Labyrinth, but that almost never happened.

Apparently, there were many other options to play the Goblin King before Bowie, including Michael Jackson, Sting, Prince, and Mick Jagger.

While Jim Henson reportedly wanted any of those options, it was his son Brian who convinced his dad that Bowie was the best choice.

Henson eventually pitched the idea while backstage at Bowie’s Serious Moonlight Tour.

Can you imagine anyone but David Bowie in Labyrinth? Would you have liked to have seen any of these other performers in the role?
