Everyone has their idea of why the Beatles broke up, but Paul McCartney is once again sharing his answer.

Talking with the BBC, McCartney says that John Lennon was the reason the band ceased to exist.

“The point of it really was that John was making a new life with Yoko,”said McCartney. “They were a great couple. There was huge strength there.”

While Paul wasn’t set on splitting up, he said that it felt official when John “wanted to go in a bag and lie in bed for a week in Amsterdam for peace. And you couldn’t argue with that.”

You can check out McCartney’s whole interview with the BBC on October 23.

Which Beatle do you think had the best solo career? Do you wish the Beatles never broke up?
