Mariah Carey Gets Her First Tony Nomination

Mariah Carey made her Broadway debut as one of the producers of the musical adaptation of Some Like It Hot, and now she’s a Tony Award nominee as the show is up for Best Musical. Like Jennifer Hudson did last year when A Strange Loop won Best Play, Carey could earn her first Tony ever if the show wins the top prize during the 76th annual Tony Awards. That show got the most Tony nominees with 13 overall nods.

Other big names recognized this year include Jessica Chastain for A Doll’s House, Samuel L. Jackson for The Piano Lesson and recording artists-turned-performers Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban for Into The Woods and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, respectively.
