It’s the final day of Women’s History Month – and what better way to wrap it up than by remembering the pioneering women of rock?
In the 60’s, singers like Janis Joplin and Grace Slick paved the way in a time when most women were relegated to the folk scene.
The 70’s saw the rise of female-fronted rock bands like Heart or The Runaways – a band that featured the likes of Joan Jett, Lita Ford, and Cherie Currie.
The heavy metal world had pioneers like ‘Metal Queen’ Doro Pesch and Girlschool – a favorite of Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.
Women also played a key role in the rise of punk rock, thanks to artists like Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, and The Slits.
Who are some other female rockers who deserve a shout-out?
