‘Joker’ Gets An 8-Minute Standing Ovation At Venice Film Festival

Joaquin Phoenix’s new Joker movie recieved an 8-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend.
Joaquin was there for the Saturday night screening, as was its director, Todd Phillips, and co-star Zazie Beetz. When Phoenix’s name appeared in the credits at the end, shouts of “Bravo!’’ erupted as critics praised his “riveting, fully realized and Oscar-worthy performance.” Earlier in the day, Joaquin explained that he stayed away from the other actors’ portrayals of the twisted character and carve his own lane.
Joker opens in theaters worldwide on October 4th.
