It’s easy to believe that Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” is about drugs, but apparently that is not the case.

Sci-fi fan Jimi Hendrix actually found inspiration for the song in a book called Night of Light, which he borrowed from a friend.

According to Cracked, the book used the phrase, “purplish haze” to describe sunspots surrounding a planet.

“Purple Haze” started out as a ten-page poem about a war on Neptune and ended up becoming the legendary song we all know!
