The 90-minute documentary explores Jimi Hendrix’s 1970 journey to Maui and how he became involved with “Rainbow Bridge,” an independent film produced by his manager, Michael Jeffery.

Jeffery got a $300,000 advance on Hendrix’s album, the first time a movie was funded exclusively by an album.

Wein, keen to include Hendrix and the Experience, intended to shoot them on the unactive Haleakala volcano. The concert went well; however, the documentary didn’t.

The documentary “Music, Money, Madness… Live In Maui” incorporates previously unseen color footage of the concert blended with surround sound and fresh interviews with key players. U.K. distributor DCD now has the rights to the documentary but there is no information about the documentary’s release.
