Hyundai Recalling 390,000 Vehicles Over Possible Engine Fires

Hyundai has announced a massive recall of more than 390,000 vehicles over an issue that can potentially cause an engine fire.

Two recalls were announced. The first covers Santa Fe Sports SUVs from 2013 through 2015. A possible brake fluid leak can cause an electrical short that could start a fire.

The second recall involves pistons that were not properly heat-treated. Affected models include 2019 and 2020 Elantras and 2019 through 2021 Konas and Velosters.

Affected owners are advised to keep their cars parked outdoors until repairs are made. More information will be sent to affected owners in June.
