Metallica frontman James Hetfield has anxiety, just like the rest of us.

During the band’s show in Brazil last week, he told the crowd, “I’ve got to tell you, I wasn’t feeling very good before I came out here. Feeling a little bit insecure, like, ‘I’m an old guy, can’t play anymore,’ all this bulls**t that I tell myself in my head.

Hetfield said his bandmates got him through, which led to a group hug on stage with drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo.

Hetfield had tears in his eyes when he explained, “And seeing you out there, I am not alone. I am not alone, and neither are you.”

How do you cope when you feel insecure?
