Director Christopher Nolan has a long resume of big budget movies including Inception, several Dark Knight movies and most recently, Oppenheimer. When asked about the massive success of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert movie, he said it could “evolve the landscape for cinema.”

The reason he said that is because she didn’t release it through a major studio. She made a deal directly with AMC theaters. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour won the domestic box office for a second weekend, with an estimated $31 million for a domestic total of $129.8 million. It was the highest grossing debut for a concert film ever with $96 million it’s opening weekend. International numbers aren’t in yet but if it passes $262.5 million before the end of its run in November, it will beat Michael Jackson’s This Is It as the highest-grossing global concert movie of all time.
