Deepfake Tom Cruise Videos Are Freaking Out Tik Tok

In the last few weeks, Tik Tok has been flooded with Tom Cruise videos and they are freaking everyone out! He’s playing golf, tripping into a room and telling jokes…but there’s one catch: they’re deepfakes. That’s NOT Tom Cruise!!
The TikTok users handle “deeptomcruise” has received over 11 million views on his videos.
It seems like it’s just for fun, but actually doing “deepfake” videos can cause a serious issue according to security advisors. The technology is real and can swap the face, edit images, etc. and can mislead users.
A professor at the University of California stated that the “deepfake” Tom Cruise did very well on the videos and that “the clips are among the most realistic to date”.
