33-year-old Garrett White from Baton Rouge, Louisiana,  doesn’t take anything for granted anymore. His health started taking a turn at age 23 when he started getting random aches and pains and persistent cough. Then…his lungs kept collapsing. He was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a rare condition causing small patches of swollen tissue to develop in the organs of the body. Then came a diagnosis of a form of vasculitis in his lungs in 2016.

He was managing it over the next three to four years and in that time met 33-year-old Taylor. They fell in love and then things really started to go downhill in 2020 and 2021 when he got COVID twice.  After multiple surgeries to try to attach his lungs to his rib cage, they were too scarred for that to work. Doctors told him he needed to get on the path for a transplant. He didn’t want to start that process until he proposed to Taylor. They even decided to get married in the hospital before his transplant, and the staff bought rings for them from the gift shop. Fast forward to his recovery and finally getting to have their proper dream wedding, something Taylor didn’t think they needed at first!
