This year’s Christmas lights aren’t limited to people’s homes and city streets.

A comet that soared past Earth over the weekend is headed back into deep space, according to University of Arizona astronomers.

But as it does, it’s expected to burn with an extra-bright intensity that will be visible to most parts of the United States, they say.

Astronomers suspect Comet Leonard, named after U of A research specialist Gregory Leonard, is burning so brightly because it’s about to break up. That’s not to say it should be a point of concern for U.S. residents; it should be nowhere near us when that happens, according to U of A scientists.

What’s the most amazing space event you’ve witnessed?
