Singer and songwriter Billy Joel, who rose to fame in the early 1970s, has expressed he was “embarrassed” after his hit song “Piano Man.” The popular track is about a piano player in a bar talking about all the regular customers.

Joel was surprised by how well-liked “Piano Man” was when it suddenly became popular. “I was shocked and embarrassed when it became a hit. But my songs are like my kids, and I look at that song and think, My kid did pretty well,” he stated.

Joel has garnered five Grammys, including those for Album of the Year and Song of the Year. In 1999, Joel was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was the second performer chosen for the Madison Square Garden Walk of Fame and is also listed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
