Arsenio Hall Signs On For “Coming 2 America”

Yes…they are doing a sequel to the 1988 movie “Coming To America” with Eddie Murphy back with Arsenio Hall.

Arsenio is back as Semmi who is the trusted assistant to Murphy’s prince Akeem Joffer. The original was centered around Akeem traveling to Queens, NY from the fictional Zamunda to find his future queen. The sequel will center around Akeem learning about a long-lost son and returning to America to meet the “unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”

The 1988 film starred Murphy as Akeem Joffer, the crown prince of the fictional African nation of Zamunda. In an effort to find a wife his family didn’t choose for him, Akeem, along with his trusted assistant Semmi, played by Hall, decides to travel to Queens, N.Y., to find his future queen.

Most of the original film’s cast, including Shari Headley and James Earl Jones, is expected to return.

“Coming 2 America” is set to hit theaters Aug. 7, 2020.
