Alice In Chains Part Of Latest Publishing Mega-Deal

Add Alice In Chains to the growing list of artists striking big-money deals to sell off their song catalogs.

Primary Wave Music has purchased a stake in the AIC catalog, including hits like “Rooster”, “Man In The Box”, and “Would?”.

However, the current band members didn’t sign off on the deal – instead, the stake was purchased from the estates of two deceased former members – frontman Layne Staley and original bassist Mike Starr.

What do you think Jerry Cantrell and the rest of AIC think about Primary Wave buying a stake in their music without their involvement?  Why are so many bands selling their catalogs?
